About APAC

The Abbotsford Photo Arts Club (APAC) has been fulfilling the educational and social needs of its members since its formation in 1975. The club was started by a handful of people who wanted to share their experiences and help each other improve their photographic skills. The club's main mission has always been to help amateur photographers develop proficiency in their chosen hobby. APAC is fortunate to have always had a core of excellent photographers who are willing to share their knowledge with other members.
There are currently over 100 APAC members, and we meet twice a month, the first Monday for competition night and the third Monday for a program night. We meet September through June, taking a break during the summer. To see some of our members work, visit our online gallery.

On competition nights, members submit their digital images and prints for evaluation and earn points toward advancement. Digital images and prints are sorted by competition category, and judged. On program nights we provide education through guest speakers, member slide shows, workshops and demonstrations.

Photographic Field Trips are planned usually once a month, and once a year a Car Rally is organized. Training opportunities are available throughout the year.

Every year APAC organizes a Photographic Seminar with workshops and a guest speaker. This year's 33nd Annual Photographic Seminar will be held October 16-17, 2010, with guest speaker Bryan Peterson. Visit our APAC Seminar webpage for further details.

APAC meetings are held on the second floor of Centre Ice Sports Arena located at 3600 Townline Road in Abbotsford. Meetings commence at 7pm on the first and third Mondays of each month from September to June. Occaisonally, variations occur so check our Events Calendar to be certain.

We enjoy meeting new people and would love to have you join us!

The Abbotsford Photo Arts Club is a proud member of the Canadian Association of Photographic Art.

Roy Craven Memorial Bursary

Roy Craven was a founding member of the Abbotsford Photo Arts Club in 1975. Roy was a tireless worker and great supporter of the club, and was honoured with a life-time membership in recognition his many contributions.

After Roy's death In 2004, the club established a bursary in his memory. The bursary, is funded by APAC and is presented each year to a student graduating from an Abbotsford Secondary School.

Below is the description of the bursary that appears in the Scholarships and Bursaries brochure of the Abbotsford Community Foundation which administers the bursary:

“The Abbotsford Photo Arts Club is pleased to donate this Roy Craven Memorial Bursary in memory of Roy Craven, long time Abbotsford School Teacher and a founding member of the Abbotsford Photo Arts Club. During Mr. Craven’s teaching career, his noon hours were spent teaching students the basics of photography. His love of photography also extended to the night school classes he taught in the community for many years.

This memorial bursary shall be awarded to a graduating student pursuing the study of photography at an accredited college or university. The student application package must include an outline of the applicant’s past achievements, present interests and future plans in the field of photography. Applications will be reviewed by members of the Abbotsford Photo Arts Club.”
